{"id":57066,"date":"2021-04-05T16:49:21","date_gmt":"2021-04-05T16:49:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=57066"},"modified":"2021-04-05T16:49:21","modified_gmt":"2021-04-05T16:49:21","slug":"turkish-backed-opposition-tortures-detainees-in-syrias-afrin-snhr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/57066\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish-backed opposition tortures detainees in Syria&#8217;s Afrin: SNHR"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Monday, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR \u2013 a UK-based monitoring group that monitors Syrian casualties in the Syrian war) said, it fears that those detained by Turkish-backed opposition groups in Afrin, northwest Syria, to be tortured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 4, Turkish-backed armed opposition groups arrested a number of women with their children, while trying to enter the Turkish territory through smuggling, local sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;18 people including 14 women were arrested, and the Syrian National Army (SNA) took them to one of the detention centers in the district of Rajo, northwest Afrin,&#8221; &#8221; the SNHR added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The women were from Homs governorate, central Syria, and they were settling in Afrin, private sources told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Their families have not been informed so far, and their mobile phones were confiscated so that they were prevented from contacting their families,&#8221; the SNHR noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SNHR expressed its concern that the detainees be tortured and forcibly disappeared as 85% of the whole detainees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;About 3,577 Syrian citizens are still under arrest or forcible disappearance inside the detention centers of the armed opposition groups,&#8221; the SNHR stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February, the Violations Documenting Center in North Syria (VDC-NSY) documented the arrest of more than 77 people, including women and children, in Afrin, by the armed opposition groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Hosheng Hassan &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;About 3,577 Syrian citizens are still under arrest or forcible disappearance inside the detention centers of the armed opposition groups,&#8221; the #SNHR stated. #Syria #Afrin @snhr  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":57067,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[39,7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-57066","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
