{"id":57051,"date":"2021-04-05T13:43:56","date_gmt":"2021-04-05T13:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=57051"},"modified":"2021-04-05T13:48:28","modified_gmt":"2021-04-05T13:48:28","slug":"civilian-killed-in-syrias-suwayda-residents-protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/57051\/","title":{"rendered":"Civilian killed in Syria\u2019s Suwayda, residents protest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Sunday, dozens of the town of Umm al-Rumman in the southeastern countryside of Suwayda, south Syria, protested in front of the headquarters the Unitarian Druze Community in the city of Suwayda, against the killing of a resident of the town by a government security patrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 2, a government security patrol raided Umm al-Rumman and killed Asa\u2019d al-Barbour from the town for unknown reasons and kidnapped his brother to the adjacent town of Salkhad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The notables of the town and dozens of its citizens protested in front of the headquarters of the Unitarian Druze Community in Suwayda, and asked Sheikh Aql to hold the security patrol accountable before the situation develops and be out of control,&#8221; Muhanned al-Khair (a pseudonym), from Umm al-Rumman, told North Press.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The Sheikh Aql Hamoud al-Hinnawi, and Sheikh Aql Youssef Jarbou\u2019 made unequivocal promises to hold the killers accountable, but without being drawn into armed confrontations with the government security forces, to avoid bloodbath,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The protestors accused the deputy commander of the Salkhad region, Ahmad al-Wawi and his members of the killing, after he was identified by a resident of the area on the day of the killing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Sami al-Ali<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A government security patrol raided Umm al-Rumman and killed Asa\u2019d al-Barbour from the town for unknown reasons and kidnapped his brother to the adjacent town of Salkhad. #Syria #Suwayda #Druze<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":57052,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[39,7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-57051","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
