{"id":56776,"date":"2021-03-30T10:17:55","date_gmt":"2021-03-30T10:17:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=56776"},"modified":"2021-03-30T10:17:55","modified_gmt":"2021-03-30T10:17:55","slug":"damascus-university-economists-forbidden-from-discussing-decline-of-syrian-pound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/56776\/","title":{"rendered":"Damascus University economists forbidden from discussing decline of Syrian pound"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Tuesday,North Press obtained special information from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Damascus indicating that the university\u2019s president, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen, is preventing faculty members from talking to journalists about the economic situation in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 14, a meeting was held in the Faculty of Economics with the presence of the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Talal Barazi, through which \u201cthe doctors of the faculty were accused of being responsible for the decline in the value of the Syrian pound\u201d due to their press statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have information but I cannot talk about,\u201d one of the members of the faculty told North Press when asked about the fluctuation of the exchange rates of the Syrian pound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe cannot talk anymore,\u201d he stressed, as the university president made a statement forbidding faculty from talking to journalists about the economic situation, especially regarding the exchange rate of the Syrian pound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that Abdeen told them, \u201cwe bring you officials to talk to and discuss with them,\u201d asking the doctors not to make any statements to the journalists without his permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Aram Abdullah<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 On Tuesday,North Press obtained special information from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Damascus indicating that the university\u2019s president, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen, is preventing faculty members from talking to journalists about the economic situation in the country.
