{"id":55978,"date":"2021-03-15T08:39:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T08:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=55978"},"modified":"2021-03-15T08:39:25","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T08:39:25","slug":"two-iraqi-refugees-killed-in-syrias-hawl-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/55978\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Iraqi refugees killed in Syria&#8217;s Hawl Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Monday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found two bodies of Iraqi refugees, who were killed by unknown individuals, in a tent in the third sector in Hawl Camp, east Hasakah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two Iraqi refugees, &#8220;Ayman Ra&#8217;id Rasheed Ahmed Saleh and Abdullah Ragheb Merbet, were shot to death in the third sector of the camp,&#8221; a security source from the camp told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The assassinations often affect Iraqi refugees, as they represent the majority of the camp, which hosts 30,606 Iraqi refugees, according to the camp administration\u2019s statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, Asayish found four Iraqi refugees&#8217; bodies and the body of a Syrian IDP shot to death by unknown people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, an Iraqi refugee and a Syrian IDP were wounded by gunshots and transferred to the hospital, according to a security source from the camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In light of the absence of sustainable solutions to address the growing security tension in the camp, Human Rights Watch\u2019s Syrian affairs researcher Sara al-Kayiali believes that it is necessary to take several steps immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The steps include, \u201ccountries repatriating their citizens, supporting the security sector via the Global Coalition, strengthening awareness programs and psychological support for the residents of the camp.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration Karim al-Nouri stated that his country did not want to take back its citizens \u201cbecause of the threat they pose,\u201d though he added that the possibility of return has still not been decided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hawl Camp is known as \u201ca time bomb\u201d due to the existence of ISIS families and tens of thousands of their loyal members in a camp which is the most dangerous in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Hosheng Hassan<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013 On Monday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found two bodies of Iraqi refugees, who were killed by unknown individuals, in a tent in the third sector in Hawl Camp, east Hasakah.
