{"id":55020,"date":"2021-02-24T08:40:15","date_gmt":"2021-02-24T08:40:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=55020"},"modified":"2021-02-24T08:40:16","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T08:40:16","slug":"drivers-go-on-strike-due-to-transportation-tariff-in-syrias-qamishli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/55020\/","title":{"rendered":"Drivers go on strike due to transportation tariff in Syria&#8217;s Qamishli"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Drivers in the garage of the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, went on strike in objection to the transportation tariff in light of the continued decline of the Syrian pound (SYP) against the US dollar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strike led to the suspension of transportation movement between Qamishli Derik, the matter led the garage administration to secure buses for transferring the remaining passengers in the garage to their destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Transportation Directorate of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) had previously set the transportation tariff between Qamishli and Derik at 800 SYP, while the drivers ask to raise it to 1,000 SYP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The drivers, who work on the Derik-Qamishli line, believe that the tariff is so little in comparison with the high costs of repairing and maintenance of their vehicles amid the collapse of the local currency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since June 2020, the Syrian Pound has been witnessing a continuous collapse, as one dollar, now, is more than 3,500 SYP in the local exchange markets of Qamishli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Salam al-Ahmad<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Drivers in the garage of the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, went on strike in objection to the transportation tariff in light of the continued decline of the Syrian pound (SYP) against the US dollar.&nbsp; The strike led to the suspension of transportation movement between Qamishli Derik, the matter led [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":55021,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-55020","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-community","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
