{"id":53918,"date":"2021-02-01T20:04:33","date_gmt":"2021-02-01T20:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=53918"},"modified":"2021-02-01T20:04:34","modified_gmt":"2021-02-01T20:04:34","slug":"syrian-government-siege-of-shahba-complements-turkish-attacks-aanes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/53918\/","title":{"rendered":"Syrian government siege of Shahba complements Turkish attacks: AANES"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>&#8220;TheSyrian government&#8217;s siege of Shahba is a complement to Turkish attacks and bombardments that aim to separate IDPs from their lands,&#8221; an official in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The areas of north Aleppo countryside administrated by the AANES are known as Shahba, where about 100,000 IDPs from Afrin are living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Security checkpoints of the Damascus government near the city of Manbij, north Syria, banned fuel and supplies for Afrin IDPs from reaching them for more than two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Executive Council of AANES of Afrin Region\u2019s co-chair Shiraz Hamo accused the Damascus government of destroying the experience of the Autonomous Administration in the area through imposing the siege.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The Syrian regime doubled its tyranny and did not change, despite what happened in Syria,&#8221; she added in a phone call with North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The official held the Damascus government responsible for the state of affairs in the country that has been witnessing war for a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the area has been witnessing almost daily shelling by Turkish troops and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups, killing and wounding dozens of Afrin\u2019s IDPs and civilians in the northern Aleppo countryside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Syria and Turkey are exchanging roles, targeting AANES under Russian sponsorship,&#8221; General Secretary of the Kurdish Left Party in Syria Mohammad Mosa told North Press last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The President of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Ilham Ahmed, said in a symposium in the city of Aleppo on Monday, that they do not rule out a <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/53562\/\">security dialogue between the Syrian government and Turkey<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahmed indicated that the Syrian government imposed a siege on Afrin\u2019s IDPs in the northern countryside of Aleppo (Shahba), adding that &#8220;this policy serves the Turkish regime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Hosheng Hassan<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;The Syrian government&#8217;s siege of #Shahba is a complement to Turkish attacks and bombardments that aim to separate IDPs from their lands,&#8221; an official in the Autonomous Administration of North and East #Syria (#AANES) said on Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":53919,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-53918","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.8 -
