{"id":52884,"date":"2021-01-13T09:23:51","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T09:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=52884"},"modified":"2021-01-13T09:23:52","modified_gmt":"2021-01-13T09:23:52","slug":"second-israeli-attack-on-syrian-military-positions-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/52884\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Israeli attack on Syrian military positions this year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) &#8211;<\/strong> On Wednesday, Israeli warplanes targeted military sites of the Syrian government forces in the city of Deir ez-Zor and Abu Kamal area in the southeastern countryside of Syria&#8217;s Deir ez-Zor governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syrian government official news agency <em>SANA<\/em> quoted a military source who said &#8220;at exactly 1:10 AM, Israeli warplanes targeted positions in the city of Deir ez-Zor and Abu Kamal region.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The military source indicated that the results of the Israeli bombing are being verified, without addressing the details of the targeting process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that Israeli planes targeted Ayyash warehouses and the Sa\u2018ka Forces (Thunderbolt Forces) camp, at the outskirts of Deir ez-Zor, as well as warehouses and headquarters in Abu Kamal and Mayadeen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SOHR added that the aircraft carried out more than 18 air strikes in the area extending from the city of Deir ez-Zor to the Syrian-Iraqi border in the Abu Kamal desert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Hezbollah, and Liwa Fatemiyoun are stationed in these positions, using them as a center for training and preparing fighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On January 7, military positions of the Syrian government in the Golan region of south Syria were subjected to Israeli air strikes, with no casualties reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-wordpress wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-north-press-agency\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"RTFoVKbPTn\"><a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/52582\/\">Israeli airstrikes target government military posts in south Syria<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Israeli airstrikes target government military posts in south Syria&#8221; &#8212; North press agency\" src=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/52582\/embed\/#?secret=UFoxbmXi8I#?secret=RTFoVKbPTn\" data-secret=\"RTFoVKbPTn\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the years of the war in Syria, Israel carried out hundreds of air strikes on military sites of the Syrian government forces, Iranian forces, and Hezbollah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israeli army spokesman Hidai Zilberman said in a press statement in December 2020 that Israel had attacked targets in Syria in the past year, and used 500 smart missiles, without any response from Iran or the Syrian regime.
