{"id":52582,"date":"2021-01-07T09:54:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-07T09:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=52582"},"modified":"2021-01-07T09:54:17","modified_gmt":"2021-01-07T09:54:17","slug":"israeli-airstrikes-target-government-military-posts-in-south-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/52582\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli airstrikes target government military posts in south Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> &#8211; Military positions of the Syrian government in the Golan region of south Syria were subjected to Israeli air strikes on Wednesday, with no casualties reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syrian state news agency <em>SANA<\/em> quoted a military source from the Syrian government, who stated that Israeli missiles targeted the southern area of Golan at about 11:10 P.M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSyrian air defense confronted the missiles and shot down one of them,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) stated that the Israeli strikes targeted sites where Iranian-backed groups and Lebanese Hezbollah are stationed, resulting in deaths and injuries, without specifying their number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Israeli raids also targeted military gatherings in the vicinity of the First Division in al-Kiswah area, south of the Syrian capital, where Iranian-backed military groups are deployed, according to SOHR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SOHR said that powerful explosions were caused by the targeting of anti-aircraft missiles of the Syrian government stationed in al-Mani` Mountain and the 91st Brigade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This came in addition to similar explosions in the western countryside of Suwayda, as a result of confronting some Israeli missiles, SOHR added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israel has launched hundreds airstrikes in Syria since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011, targeting military posts of government forces, Iranian-backed militias, and Lebanese Hezbollah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wednesday\u2019s airstrikes were the first of its kind since the beginning of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israel has made no comment on the most resent strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the 30<sup>th<\/sup> of December, a Syrian solder was killed and others were wounded in an Israeli targeting of government air defenses at Nabi Habil summit in the northwestern Damascus countryside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israeli army spokesman Hidai Zilberman said in a press statement in late December that Israel does not find any obstacle in targeting what it wants in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the outbreak of the Syrian war, Israel has conducted several air strikes against targets in Syria, most of which were on Iranian forces or Iranian-backed militias\u2019 positions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) &#8211; Military positions of the Syrian government in the Golan region of south Syria were subjected to Israeli air strikes on Wednesday, with no casualties reported.
