{"id":49925,"date":"2020-11-16T20:43:08","date_gmt":"2020-11-16T20:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=49925"},"modified":"2020-11-16T20:43:09","modified_gmt":"2020-11-16T20:43:09","slug":"syrian-government-soldier-wounded-in-turkish-shelling-of-syrias-tel-abyad-countryside","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/49925\/","title":{"rendered":"Syrian government soldier wounded in Turkish shelling of Syria\u2019s Tel Abyad countryside"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 A Syrian government soldier was&nbsp; wounded in a bombardment by Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups on villages in the countryside of&nbsp; Tel Abyad (Gre-Spi) north of Raqqa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area has been witnessing repeated shelling by the Turkish forces and its affiliated armed opposition groups since the Turkish invasion of northeastern Syria in October 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A military source told North Press that the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups and Turkish forces bombed four villages in Tel Abyad countryside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source added that the shelling caused injury to a member of the Syrian government forces in the village of Arida, as well as damaged residents&#8217; property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The region is located close to the M4 Highway, and since the Sochi agreement between Russia and Turkey in October 2019, it has been held by government forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups took control of the cities of Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad and their surrounding countryside in October of 2019.
