{"id":46555,"date":"2020-09-09T11:02:12","date_gmt":"2020-09-09T11:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=46555"},"modified":"2020-09-09T11:02:17","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T11:02:17","slug":"sdf-syriac-official-denies-potential-turkish-attack-on-syrias-northeast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/46555\/","title":{"rendered":"SDF Syriac official denies potential Turkish attack on Syria&#8217;s northeast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Aram Hana, an official in the Syriac Military Council branch of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), denied rumors about a Turkish-backed opposition invasion of northeastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a special statement to North Press, Hana said that opposition media propaganda aims to distract from intra-opposition disputes, pointing out that <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=46499\">Turkish-backed Syrian opposition groups continue to engage in clashes with each other over the distribution of loot<\/a> and stolen property in Sere Kaniye and the countryside of Tel Tamr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-wordpress alignright wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-north-press-agency\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"AZElUXpJRM\"><a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/46499\/\">Repeated Turkish shelling, looting, intra-opposition clashes in Syria&#8217;s Tel Tamr<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Repeated Turkish shelling, looting, intra-opposition clashes in Syria&#8217;s Tel Tamr&#8221; &#8212; North press agency\" src=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/46499\/embed\/#?secret=cjFGy50RTd#?secret=AZElUXpJRM\" data-secret=\"AZElUXpJRM\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkish-backed opposition groups cannot start a new military operation amid their disputes over spoils of war, according to Hana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, opposition accounts and sites have published videos showing Turkish-backed opposition groups discussing a new attack on SDF-held areas, without mentioning its time and place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syriac official further added, &#8220;Recently, we have noticed the arrival of new defensive reinforcements, not offensive ones, to the opposition frontlines.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mustafa Bali, head of the SDF Media Office, said that they are committed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=36889\">two ceasefire agreements<\/a> that Turkey signed with both Russia and the US after the 2019 Turkish invasion of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad (Gre-Spi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=46348\">a press conference<\/a> with former Combined Joint Task Force \u2013 Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF\u2013OIR) spokesman Myles B. Caggins on Saturday, Bali said that the data &#8220;does not show Turkish intention to conduct a new military attack against Syria&#8217;s northeastern areas at this time.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTurkey has so far never stopped its attacks on these areas.
