Ramallah – North-Press Agency<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ahmed Ismail<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A Palestinian politician said on Wednesday that the U.S. and the Russian support for Netanyahu in the Knesset elections was one of the influencing factors that led to his victory.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n After nearly 93% of the votes cast in the Knesset elections on Tuesday, the number of seats for the Likud Party dropped to 35 seats, while the Joint List has increased from 15 to 16 seats.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Therefore, the right-wing camp has 58 seats, and the center-left camp has 55 seats.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The final results of the elections are expected to be announced this evening after the vote counting process in double envelopes and those made by quarantine Israeli voters ends.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ayman Odeh, the head of the Arab Joint List, said that his party has achieved an unparalleled achievement in the elections for the 23rd Knesset; however, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the results obtained by the right-wing camp. He added that his party would prevent Benjamin Netanyahu from forming the next government because he does not have sixty-one seats. Odeh said: "This time, the vote rate was the highest for the Arab Joint List within the Arab society."<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Palestinian politician Nabil Amr said in an interview with North-Press, that several factors formed Netanyahu's almost certain success before the elections got started. He explained that the U.S. and even the Russian support are of the influencing factors that led to Netanyahu's victory in the elections, regardless of whether he is able to form a government alone or not.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Amr said that the U.S. administration desperately wants Netanyahu, and this was proofed by adopting him in a way that has never happened before by any U.S. administrations toward an Israeli candidate, which means that Trump administration has thrown all its weight inside Israel in this regard. He also touched on the Russian support for Netanyahu due to Moscow's desire to keep Netanyahu, as Russia bestowed political gifts for Netanyahu three times before the first, second and third Knesset elections that happened within a year.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Russians have an interest with Netanyahu to the extent that Netanyahu has visited Moscow more than he visited Washington in the recent years.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Amr explains Russia's need for Netanyahu to stay, saying that there were secret understandings between Netanyahu and Russia regarding the Syrian crisis and other issues. The Russians want their interests, which are represented in their project that aims to penetrate into the Middle East.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So that, Amr believes that Moscow has a great influence inside Israel, especially for the presence of the Russian Jews.
