{"id":41434,"date":"2020-04-07T16:55:11","date_gmt":"2020-04-07T16:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=41434"},"modified":"2020-04-07T16:55:11","modified_gmt":"2020-04-07T16:55:11","slug":"Daraa in ongoing security chaos, Ba\u2019ath party secretary killed by unknown persons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/41434\/","title":{"rendered":"Daraa in ongoing security chaos, Ba\u2019ath party secretary killed by unknown persons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>North-Press Agency<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Security chaos has continued for months in all areas of the southern Daraa governorate, where an unidentified armed group assassinated Ba&#39;ath Party Division Secretary Silwan al-Jundi on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Unidentified armed groups continue their attacks, most of which are assassinations in several forms by detonating bombs, landmines, VBIEDs and shooting at prominent figures of the Syrian government in Daraa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">On Tuesday, two unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike shot dead the Secretary of the Ba&#39;ath Party Division in the city of Nawa in the northwestern countryside of Daraa, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\nDamascus has not commented on the incident so far, and official media outlets have not published the news of al-Jundi&#39;s assassination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">On April 1st, unidentified armed groups tried to assassinate a member of the People&#39;s Assembly from the town of Inkhel in Daraa Governorate by indiscriminately firing on him, but they were not able to shoot him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\nAt the end of March, an armed group also fired randomly in the town of Tafas in northern Daraa countryside, killing one person.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\nOn February 17th, unidentified gunmen targeted a person on the pretext that he was dealing with the security apparatus of the Syrian government, on al-Sanamayn-Qaita road, north of Daraa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">On January 12th, a building of the Syrian Air Force Intelligence was blown up by armed groups in the southern city of Daraa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\nAccording to the Syrian Observatory, the bombing was carried out in conjunction with the attempt by the Syrian government forces to counter the attack by unknown armed groups at a checkpoint between al-Harak and al-Soura, east of Daraa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\nA day before targeting the building of the Syrian Air Force Intelligence, unknown persons bombed al-Hal market in the town of Tafas in Daraa countryside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011, Daraa Governorate has witnessed major battles between Syrian government forces and armed groups, which called themselves the Free Army.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\nDuring 2017 and 2018, the Syrian government forces, backed by Russian warplanes, managed to regain control of most of the southern areas that had been out of their control since the beginning of the Syrian conflict.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North-Press Agency &nbsp;
