SYRIA (North Press) – Security services in several areas under the control of the Syrian government have received orders to be prepared in anticipation of the emergence and expansion of new protests against the government since Sunday, informed sources said.<\/p>\n
\nThis coincides with the beginning of protests in a number of areas under the control of the Syrian government due to price hikes and the deterioration of living conditions in most areas.<\/p>\n
\nAs-Suwayda city, in the south of Syria witnessed protests on Sunday due to deteriorating living conditions, denouncing what they described as "the neglect of the Syrian government in assuming its responsibilities towards controlling prices and developing radical solutions to the economic crisis in the country.”<\/p>\n
\nBut protesters are increasing their demands that al-Assad leave power for the first time since protests took place in the city in two months, chanting slogans against Iranian and Russian presence in Syria.<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, a massive demonstration took place in Tafas, in the countryside of Daraa in southern Syria, last Saturday in protest of the deteriorating living situation. The demonstrators condemned Iranian and Russian presence in Syria, demanding the overthrow of the Syrian government and the release of detainees from detention, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.<\/p>\n
\nDuring the last 24 hours, the Syrian pound collapsed against the American dollar. The exchange rate on Monday in Damascus reached 3,000 Syrian pounds for one dollar.<\/p>\n
\nAs a result, prices have risen for different materials and goods in the markets, while most shops were closed in most Syrian cities due to the increase and instability of prices.<\/p>\n
