SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified persons assassinated a Turkish soldier on Monday in the city of Sere Kaniye \/ Ras Al-Ain, northeastern Syria. Meanwhile, the death toll from the bombing of a checkpoint belonging to Turkish-backed militants in the town of Tal Halaf on Thursday rose to nine.<\/p>\n

\nThe incident happened in the vicinity of an automated bakery in the city of Sere Kaniye, where the body of a Turkish soldier was found dead from multiple gunshots. The identity of the perpetrators is not known, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).<\/p>\n

\nMeanwhile, the death toll from the 30 July bombing of a checkpoint of the "Hamzat" and "Civilian Police" divisions in the town of Tel Halaf rose to nine, including one unidentified body.<\/p>\n

\nNine charred bodies were pulled from the site of the explosion, including one still unidentified, in addition to more than 15 military and civilian wounded, some of which are in critical condition, according to SOHR.<\/p>\n

\nDuring the past week, the area witnessed five explosions that left dozens dead and wounded.<\/p>\n

\nThe area under the control of Turkish-backed militants is witnessing a state of security chaos as a result of frequent infighting between the factions that share influence over the city's neighborhoods, while the region and the city witnessed bombings and the spread of looting and theft since the Turkish army took control of the city late last year.
