ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The co-chair of the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration in Aleppo's northern countryside, Hevin Hussein, said that the region, which is home to IDPs from Turkish-occupied Afrin, is free from any coronavirus cases.<\/p>\n

\nIn a special statement to North Press, Hussein said that the Health Board will announce any infections with the virus if confirmed. <\/p>\n

\nHussein stated that they are taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the northern countryside of Aleppo by examining the arrivals to the region and forming emergency medical teams, in addition to equipping two quarantine centers. <\/p>\n

\nHussein called on the population to comply with social distancing, and “take precautions and use caution, and avoid gatherings.” <\/p>\n

\nAfrin's IDPs, who live in camps and semi-destroyed houses in villages and towns in the northern countryside of Aleppo, fear the spread of the virus amid the region’s lack of equipment, medicine, and trained health staff. <\/p>\n

\nSome of the Afrin IDPs take refuge in semi-destroyed houses in 42 villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo, while others reside within five camps (Sardam, Berkhwadan, Shahba, Afrin and Awda).
