Two Syrian political opponents have described the U.S. and Turkish forces in Syria as occupation forces, that the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s speech, is an earlier stance and that the talk of preserving the Syrian territories is not directed to Turkey, as well as that Damascus does not approve the security mechanism agreement, and it remains in the objection stance due to the great Iranian influence and to confront the Zionist-American project in the region.
Munther Khaddam, a member of the Syrian National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change confirmed the Syrian president’s speech about sticking to the Syrian territories, that it is a general position which has always been stated by officials of the Syrian government, considering that the speech is not directed to Turkey alone, which he described Turkey as always agreeing on the Syrian unity in all statements that had released in Astana meetings.
“Turkey may undoubtedly have ambitions in the Syrian geography, but at this stage it will focus on stabilizing its influence in northern Syria, especially by changing the demographics\u201d, Khaddam said.
Khaddam believes that the Syrian government is ready to ensure borders security in any possible deal with Turkey, but it cannot agree with the Turkish vision regarding the security mechanism.
He stressed that the economic situation is very difficult especially with the growing role of the corruption, adding that the poverty rate in Syria has reached more than 85%, which led many people to secure their living illegally.
Regarding the Syrian president’s confirmation on his commitment to the resistance axis and stance, Khaddam said: “The regime cannot get out of what is called \u201cresistance axis\u201d, because of the great Iranian influence in the country, and the lack of openness of the Arab countries due to the U.S. orders\u201d.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Syrian Oppositional Democratic Front, Mahmoud Marei assured to North-Press that this stance regarding the preservation of the Syrian territories is the stance of the Syrian state, the Syrian army, and President Bashar al-Assad for a long time, as he considered it an important and strategic stance.
He added that the President has repeatedly stressed his commitment to liberate all Syrian territories from terrorism and occupations, whether Turkish or U.S. or all illegal forces that control parts of the Syrian geography\u201d.
Marei also believes that the Syrian state considers the security mechanism agreement as hostile to Syria, confirming that it does not accept the security mechanism nor the control and entrance of the U.S. and Turkish forces within the Syrian territories.
“The U.S. administration and the Turkish regime must coordinate with the Syrian state, and as long as they do not coordinate, all these measures are invalid, unreal and not binding for the Syrian state\u201d, Marei said.
“The Syrian Arab people in this region must resist the security mechanism agreement and the buffer zone, and resist all these ideas\u201d, he said.
In addition, he said: “The Syrian state doesn’t accept the autonomous, federal or confederate administration, but the maximum that the Syrian state could offer to the Kurds in the country, the SDF and SDC, is an administrative decentralization\u201d.
The secretary-general of the Oppositional Syrian Democratic Front also talked about Adana agreement between Syria and Turkey that is binding the both sides and clarifies the sovereignty over the Syrian borders and geography, in addition to the Turkish forces’ right to chase terrorists and to leave the Syrian territories, but Turkey has no right to establish permanent military bases nor observation posts inside Syria”.
Mahmoud Marei stressed that the internal national opposition is with the Syrian state, in the necessity of applying Adana agreement that charts the borders and regulates the relation between the two countries, Syria and Turkey.
He stressed: “We are with the Turkish and Syrian national security, as the Syrian state does not protect terrorism or terrorists, because the state is suffering from dozens of militias and terrorist forces that have existed, and are still on its territories\u201d.
Regarding the economic situation, Marei sees that the situation is very severe, terrible and difficult, and it is reflected on the Syrian citizens, especially the employees and the low-income people.
He revealed that more than 80% of the Syrian citizens have fallen below the poverty line, as a result of the war, the economic sanctions and the failure to finance the reconstruction process, linking this to the political solution and Western terms that are at the expense of the interests of the Syrian people and the country\u201d.
Regarding the \u201caxis of resistance\u201d, the Secretary-General of the Syrian Democratic Front Mahmoud Marei said that Syria is part of this axis extending from Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus, Beirut to Gaza, which stands against the Zionist-US project in the region\u201d.
He concluded by saying: “The Zionist enemy is trying to provoke Syria, Iraq, Hezbollah and Iran, through raids over some areas in Syria and Iraq, so this axis is preparing for a confrontation that may last for long\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
