QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) –
<\/strong> General Mazloum Abdi, general commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on Saturday that they had drawn up a plan to fully complete the integration process this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an exclusive interview with Rudaw Media Network, Abdi said that although the Jan. 29 agreement reached earlier this year \u201cdid not meet our aspirations,\u201d it created a place for Kurds within the Syrian state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that he would make every effort to ensure the agreement succeeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy biggest mistake was not making enough efforts to implement the March 10 agreement with the Syrian state,\u201d Abdi said. \u201cIn this regard, I give our people the right to criticize me. But this time, I have promised to devote all my capabilities to implementing the agreement, even if it is not entirely satisfactory to us, in order to prevent war and establish stability. We will continue our struggle afterward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdi said the current situation and the way President Ahmed al-Sharaa has dealt with the Kurdish issue presented a good opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKurds were not part of the state when the Syrian state was founded and gained independence, but now an opportunity has emerged for Kurds to be part of building this state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Kurdish unity was more necessary than ever, stressing that efforts in this regard would resume. He added that they needed the support of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq more than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding education in the Kurdish language, Abdi said, \u201cIn the negotiations we are holding with the Syrian state, the language issue is the first and main item on our agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added, \u201cFor 15 years, the Kurdish language has been the language of education in our areas, and we have taken it to the university level. Therefore, we cannot go back to making Kurdish merely an optional language.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdi said progress had been made on the issue during their latest meeting with President Ahmed al-Sharaa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the United States and Europe had not betrayed the Kurdish people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI cannot say that they betrayed us,\u201d he said. \u201cWe, the Americans and the Europeans were clear with each other. They stood with us in the fight against ISIS, and from the first day they always said: We are here for ISIS. They came to fight ISIS, not to fully support the Kurdish cause and stay forever, or to establish a Kurdish entity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdi said those who claim that ISIS had ended were mistaken, noting that the group \u201cis now spread out and present in all cities. For example, it was not previously present in Syria\u2019s major cities, but it is now established in those areas as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the oil fields that had been under their control, including Rmelan and al-Sweidiya, among others, had been officially handed over to the Syrian state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow American companies are coming and working here. They have contracts with the Syrian state, and they are now the ones who have taken over and manage this file,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the \u201cdissolution\u201d of the SDF, General Mazloum Abdi said, \u201cWe do not want to use the word dissolution, but rather the integration of the SDF into the Syrian army.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
