QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Association of Chemical Weapons Survivors said on Friday it had documented the deaths of 1,466 people from sarin gas exposure during the 2013 chemical attack in Eastern Ghouta, while around 10,000 injured people were rescued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Aug. 21, 2013, the former Syrian regime carried out a chemical attack using internationally prohibited sarin gas against areas in Eastern and Western Ghouta, killing and injuring thousands of civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salim Namour, head of the association and former head of the Unified Medical Office of Eastern Ghouta, said the figures and documentation were submitted to the international investigation commission two days after the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the healthcare sector at the time was organized under the Unified Medical Office of Eastern Ghouta and mobilized all its resources to respond to the attack, describing it as a catastrophe that could never be forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
