{"id":140168,"date":"2026-08-11T19:06:18","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T19:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=140168"},"modified":"2026-08-11T19:06:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T19:06:19","slug":"israeli-flag-to-fly-over-golan-after-colombia-recognition-netanyahu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/140168\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli flag to fly over Golan after Colombia recognition &#8211; Netanyahu"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> \u2013 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that Israel\u2019s flag would continue to fly over the Golan Heights, after Colombia recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Syrian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Israeli flag flies here, and it will continue to fly here because this is our land,\u201d Netanyahu said in a video while pointing to a map of the Golan Heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Netanyahu thanked Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella for the decision, saying Colombia had recognized Israel\u2019s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colombia\u2019s government announced Monday that it recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the territory, citing the Golan Heights\u2019 strategic importance to Israel\u2019s security and Israel\u2019s right to defend itself against external threats. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/new-colombian-government-recognizes-israels-sovereignty-over-golan-heights\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">timesofisrael.com<\/a>\u2060)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move makes Colombia the second country after the United States to formally recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Washington recognized the territory as Israeli during the administration of former US President Donald Trump in 2019.
