HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Orhan Kamal, coordinator of the Synergy Association for Victims, told North Press on Sunday that displaced people from Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and its countryside in northeastern Syria want to return to their homes and lands with guarantees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamal said the return must be accompanied by security guarantees, including \u201cending the factionalism that exists in the city, ending the security chaos and placing all weapons under control of the city’s security forces.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that displaced people from Sere Kaniye and its countryside want to return to their homes and lands, based on a field survey conducted by the Association involving more than 600 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, the Synergy Association for Victims issued a report<\/a> based on a field assessment of the views of 607 displaced people and highlighted security, rights and services as the main conditions for return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the return of displaced people also requires vacating civilians\u2019 homes, reopening state institutions and schools in the city, providing healthcare services and ensuring humanitarian organizations deliver assistance, noting that the city is in urgent need of all these services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamal noted that preparations are underway to send the first convoy of displaced people from Sere Kaniye this week, comprising more than 600 families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that everyone \u201cwant to return and end their suffering, which has continued for seven years in camps, shelters, villages and cities to which they were displaced.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamal estimated the number of displaced families from Sere Kaniye at between 10,000 and 12,000, distributed among Hasakah city, its camps and shelters, and other cities across Hasakah Governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
