{"id":139924,"date":"2026-08-06T11:37:01","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T11:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=139924"},"modified":"2026-08-06T11:37:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T11:37:03","slug":"syria-linked-smuggling-networks-dismantled-in-europe-3-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/139924\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria-linked smuggling networks dismantled in Europe, 3 arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> European authorities arrested three senior members of two Syrian migrant-smuggling networks accused of facilitating the illegal entry of more than 900 migrants into the European Union, Europol said on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The arrests, carried out in Germany and Serbia on Aug. 5, followed years of investigations led by the German Federal Police and coordinated by Europol through an international task force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europol.europa.eu\/media-press\/newsroom\/news\/syrian-migrant-smugglers-arrested-in-coordinated-strike-in-germany-and-serbia\">Europol<\/a>, the two interconnected Syrian criminal networks operated along the Central Mediterranean and Western Balkan migration routes, transporting predominantly Syrian migrants under dangerous conditions while generating substantial illicit profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities arrested a 26-year-old Syrian national in Saarbr\u00fccken, Germany, who is suspected of organizing at least 125 migrant-smuggling journeys since October 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Belgrade, Serbian authorities detained two other Syrian suspects, aged 31 and 32, accused of coordinating large-scale operations that moved hundreds of migrants toward Western Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators said one Libya-linked network charged migrants between \u20ac6,500 and \u20ac7,800 per trip, while another operating from Serbia demanded up to \u20ac10,000 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operation also included six searches in Germany and the seizure of evidence currently under forensic examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Jwan Shekaki<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 European authorities arrested three senior members of two Syrian migrant-smuggling networks accused of facilitating the illegal entry of more than 900 migrants into the European Union, Europol said on Thursday.
