{"id":139477,"date":"2026-07-25T10:32:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T10:32:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=139477"},"modified":"2026-07-25T10:32:36","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T10:32:36","slug":"syria-lebanon-discuss-new-economic-agreements-and-investments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/139477\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria, Lebanon discuss new economic agreements and investments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Lebanese Economy and Trade Minister Amer al-Bassat on Saturday said that Lebanon and Syria are discussing new agreements, resolving technical issues at border crossings and exploring investment opportunities in key sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Bassat made the remarks after meeting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the Baabda Palace, where he briefed him on the results of his recent visit to Syria, describing it as \u201cvery important,\u201d according to Lebanon\u2019s National News Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that cooperation between the two countries is proceeding along three tracks: preparing new treaties and agreements with Syria, exploring investment opportunities with Lebanese businesspeople who accompanied him during the visit, and addressing technical issues, particularly those affecting border crossings between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister indicated that the first phase of agreements with Syria would focus on what Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa described as \u201cessential matters,\u201d including electricity, gas pipelines, ports and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He pointed out that cooperation would not be limited to these sectors, saying several vital areas in Syria could attract Lebanese investment in the future, particularly construction and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On July 22, Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Nidal al-Shaar met with al-Bassat and his accompanying delegation in Damascus to discuss strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Bassat said that his visit was part of efforts to continue a process that began with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam\u2019s visit to Damascus in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The discussions come as Syria and Lebanon seek to strengthen economic and trade ties and address logistical challenges affecting cross-border movement and trade between the neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Malin Mohammed<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Lebanese Economy and Trade Minister Amer al-Bassat on Saturday said that Lebanon and Syria are discussing new agreements, resolving technical issues at border crossings and exploring investment opportunities in key sectors.
