DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Monday that three U.S. service members died in separate incidents linked to ongoing tensions with Iran, as American forces carried out a ninth consecutive night of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CENTCOM said two U.S. service members were initially reported dead and a third missing following an Iranian attack in Jordan on July 17. After an extensive search, U.S. military personnel recovered unidentified human remains at the attack site, and an examination is underway to verify their identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The command said it is withholding the identities of the deceased and missing personnel until family notification procedures are completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate incident, CENTCOM said a U.S. service member was killed in action in northern Iraq on Sunday during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. Another service member sustained minor injuries and continues to receive medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The casualties came as U.S. forces expanded their military campaign against Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CENTCOM announced it began a new wave of strikes at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, marking the ninth consecutive night of operations aimed at degrading Iranian military capabilities used to target commercial vessels and civilian shipping transiting the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, the command confirmed the completion of the latest round of strikes, which concluded at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted Iranian military command centers, air defense systems, coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The command said the strikes were intended to further reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian mariners in the strategic waterway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The U.S. military is holding Iran accountable at the Commander in Chief’s direction,” CENTCOM said, adding that its forces remain “highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest operations extend an ongoing U.S. military campaign against Iran that began after Tehran intensified attacks on commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is one of the world’s most important energy transit routes, carrying roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments, making any disruption a significant concern for international trade and regional security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
