{"id":138899,"date":"2026-07-08T06:22:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T06:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=138899"},"modified":"2026-07-08T06:23:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T06:23:00","slug":"u-s-hits-over-80-targets-in-iran-following-strait-of-hormuz-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/138899\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. hits over 80 targets in Iran following Strait of Hormuz attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The U.S. military on Tuesday carried out a new round of strikes against Iran, targeting more than 80 military sites in response to Tehran&#8217;s latest attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/MEDIA\/PUBLIC-RELEASES\/Article\/4535772\/us-forces-complete-new-round-of-retaliatory-strikes-against-iran\/\">CENTCOM<\/a>, the operation struck &#8220;Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats in and near the strait&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S. military said the strikes were intended to degrade Iran&#8217;s ability to launch further attacks on international shipping and safeguard freedom of navigation through one of the world&#8217;s most critical maritime trade routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CENTCOM said the operation followed recent Iranian attacks on three commercial tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz: the Marshall Islands-flagged M\/T Al Rekayyat, the Saudi Arabia-flagged M\/T Wedyan, and the Liberian-flagged M\/T Cyprus Prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The command described the attacks as &#8220;unwarranted aggression&#8221; and said they constituted a clear violation of the ceasefire while undermining international maritime security and freedom of navigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CENTCOM added that U.S. forces remain prepared to take further action should Iran fail to comply with the terms of the agreement or continue threatening commercial shipping in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported strikes on Qeshm island, Bandar Abbas, and Sirik, causing injuries from shrapnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Ster Youssef<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 The U.S. military on Tuesday carried out a new round of strikes against Iran, targeting more than 80 military sites in response to Tehran&#8217;s latest attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
