{"id":138784,"date":"2026-07-03T18:04:38","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T18:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=138784"},"modified":"2026-07-03T18:04:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T18:04:40","slug":"former-syrian-officer-arrested-over-alleged-abuses-in-northeast-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/138784\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Syrian officer arrested over alleged abuses in northeast Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Syria\u2019s Interior Ministry announced on Friday the arrest of former Major General Ali Saleh Dhiab, a senior military and security official under the former Syrian government, accusing him of involvement in violations committed in the city of Qamishli and Hasakah governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement published through its official platforms, the ministry said the arrest was carried out during what it described as a \u201cspecialized security operation\u201d based on extensive surveillance and close monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the ministry, security records show that Dhiab served as head of the Military Security Branch in Qamishli between 2008 and 2018.
