{"id":138770,"date":"2026-07-02T15:27:01","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T15:27:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=138770"},"modified":"2026-07-02T15:27:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T15:27:11","slug":"five-killed-16-injured-in-cafe-blast-in-damascus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/138770\/","title":{"rendered":"Five killed, 16 injured in caf\u00e9 blast in Damascus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Five people were killed and 16 others were injured on Thursday after an explosive device detonated inside a caf\u00e9 in the al-Hijaz area near the Palace of Justice in central Damascus, according to Syria\u2019s Health Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministry said the death toll from the explosion had risen to five, while 16 others sustained injuries and were transferred to nearby hospitals for treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier in the day, eyewitnesses and local sources told North Press that an explosion struck a caf\u00e9 on al-Nasr Street, near the Palace of Justice in central Damascus, with initial reports indicating multiple casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A government source later confirmed to North Press that five people had been killed and 16 others injured in the blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Syria\u2019s Interior Ministry said it had launched field procedures following the explosion of an explosive device inside the caf\u00e9 in the al-Hijaz area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministry said Internal Security Forces patrols and ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving reports of the incident.
