{"id":138512,"date":"2026-06-20T19:13:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T19:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=138512"},"modified":"2026-06-20T19:13:37","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T19:13:37","slug":"israel-announces-ceasefire-in-lebanon-keeps-military-positions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/138512\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel announces ceasefire in Lebanon, keeps military positions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> \u2013 The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had received instructions from the country\u2019s political leadership to halt military operations in Lebanon, while stressing that it would continue to act against what it described as immediate threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The announcement came after Israel\u2019s Channel 12 reported that, under directives from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, the Israeli army had suspended its military operations in Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the channel, the decision does not include a withdrawal from territories entered by Israeli forces since March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report added that the instructions followed coordination between the Israeli political leadership and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Channel 12 also stated that the Israeli military would not withdraw from southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the Israeli news website Walla reported that the Israeli army chief of staff had ordered a ceasefire in southern Lebanon following a security assessment meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, an Israeli official told Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper that Israel would respond forcefully if Hezbollah launched new attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent days, the Israeli military intensified its airstrikes across Lebanon, resulting in dozens of deaths on Friday and Saturday.
