{"id":138376,"date":"2026-06-15T09:39:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T09:39:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=138376"},"modified":"2026-06-15T09:39:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T09:39:34","slug":"syria-recognizes-degrees-issued-by-turkish-university-branches-in-north-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/138376\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria recognizes degrees issued by Turkish university branches in north Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Syria&#8217;s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on Monday announced that it has approved the accreditation and recognition of degrees awarded to graduates of Turkish university branches operating in northern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decision follows resolutions adopted by the Higher Education Council during its regular meeting on Sunday, which also approved the establishment of master&#8217;s and doctoral programs in several disciplines at universities in Aleppo, Latakia, and Tartous, according to the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Higher Education Minister Marwan al-Halabi said the decision was driven by the ministry&#8217;s commitment to resolving outstanding academic issues and ensuring fairness for students and graduates of Turkish universities in northern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Halabi explained that the measure applies to graduates of Turkish university branches in the region, including branches affiliated with Gaziantep University and the University of Health Sciences in the town of al-Rai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that Aleppo University has been instructed to complete all accreditation and credential-adjustment procedures directly, without requiring graduates to seek approval from the ministry, in an effort to streamline the process and safeguard graduates&#8217; academic rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister noted that the status of Turkish universities and related educational institutions in northern Syria remains under ongoing review and coordination with Syria&#8217;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, as well as Turkish authorities, with the aim of reaching comprehensive and lasting solutions that ensure academic fairness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Malin Mohammed<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Syria&#8217;s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on Monday announced that it has approved the accreditation and recognition of degrees awarded to graduates of Turkish university branches operating in northern Syria.
