{"id":137798,"date":"2026-05-18T07:27:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T07:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=137798"},"modified":"2026-05-18T07:27:01","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T07:27:01","slug":"idf-arrests-israelis-after-crossing-into-syria-from-golan-heights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/137798\/","title":{"rendered":"IDF arrests Israelis after crossing into Syria from Golan Heights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday said that its troops detained 10 Israeli civilians after they crossed the border from the occupied Golan Heights into Syrian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the IDF, soldiers operating in the area located the civilians inside Syria, returned them to Israeli territory, and handed them over to the Israel Police for further handling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe IDF strongly condemns this incident and emphasizes its severity, which constitutes a criminal offense that endangers civilians and IDF soldiers,\u201d the military said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israeli public broadcaster KAN News reported that this was the fourth attempt within 24 hours by activists affiliated with a group known as \u201cHabashan Pioneers\u201d to cross the border into Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group is described by Israeli media as one of several movements advocating for the establishment of Jewish settlements inside Syrian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incident comes weeks after a similar case in which around 40 Israeli civilians reportedly gathered in the Golan Heights and attempted to cross into Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time, the individuals managed to move several hundred meters into Syrian territory before being apprehended by the military.
