{"id":137490,"date":"2026-05-06T14:58:01","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T14:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=137490"},"modified":"2026-05-06T14:58:03","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T14:58:03","slug":"turkey-says-660000-syrians-returned-since-late-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/137490\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey says 660,000 Syrians returned since Late 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) <\/strong>\u2013 The Turkish government announced on Wednesday that more than 660,000 Syrians have returned from Turkey to Syria over the past 17 months, according to official figures released by the Interior Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the ministry said that the total number of Syrians who have \u201cvoluntarily and safely\u201d returned from Turkey since 2016 has reached 1,407,568.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to updated data from Turkey\u2019s Directorate of Migration Management, 2,280,542 Syrians remain under temporary protection inside the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Interior Ministry added that data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) indicates that 1,630,874 Syrians have returned to Syria across the region since December 8, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It noted that, based on the distribution of returnees by country, Turkey ranks first, with 639,995 Syrians returning from its territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministry stated that the figures were compiled through analysis of border crossing movements, population mobility reports, and multiple data sources.
