{"id":137418,"date":"2026-05-05T09:43:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T09:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=137418"},"modified":"2026-05-05T09:43:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T09:43:20","slug":"child-injured-by-unexploded-ordnance-blast-in-deir-ez-zor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/137418\/","title":{"rendered":"Child injured by unexploded ordnance blast in Deir ez-Zor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> A child was seriously injured on Tuesday after an unexploded war remnant detonated in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A local source from the town of al-Suwar told North Press that the explosive remnant went off while nine-year-old Haytham al-Samir was handling it and attempting to dismantle it on the outskirts of the town\u2019s desert area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source said the child sustained multiple shrapnel wounds after fragments lodged in his body. He was hospitalized to Damascus for treatment and is in very critical condition, according to a doctor in the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source added that similar incidents occur from time to time as the area remains heavily contaminated with unexploded war remnants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the beginning of April, seven people have lost their lives and four others have been injured in similar incidents across Deir ez-Zor countryside alone, the source noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Omar Abdurrahman<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) \u2013 A child was seriously injured on Tuesday after an unexploded war remnant detonated in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
