{"id":137021,"date":"2026-04-16T13:45:46","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T13:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=137021"},"modified":"2026-04-16T13:45:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T13:45:47","slug":"syria-announces-arrest-of-isis-cell-in-eastern-aleppo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/137021\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria announces arrest of ISIS cell in eastern Aleppo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> \u2013 The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday the arrest of a cell affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) during a joint security operation in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted a source within the Ministry of Interior as saying that the operation was carried out in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, targeting suspected ISIS members in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the source, security forces detained members of the cell and confiscated weapons, ammunition, and military equipment that were allegedly intended for use in carrying out attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source added that the cell was involved in multiple attacks, including assassination operations and direct targeting of security and military personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISIS, which once controlled vast areas of Syria and Iraq, continues to operate through sleeper cells, particularly in remote and contested regions.
