Religious and ethnic minorities appear to be less affected by the high rejection rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025, only 5.3 percent of Syrian applicants were granted protection status \u2014 whether as refugees, asylum beneficiaries, or under subsidiary protection or deportation bans \u2014 compared with nearly universal approval rates in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, naturalization figures have surged. In 2024 alone, 83,150 Syrians obtained German citizenship, bringing the total number of Syrians naturalized over the past decade to more than 245,000 \u2014 around 28 percent of all naturalizations in the country.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The debate comes amid political discussions over returns.
