HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> U.S. forces repelled early on Sunday a heavy drone attack targeting Qasrok base in the countryside of Tel Tamr in Hasakah northern countryside, northeastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Press correspondent said that air defense systems, recently deployed by U.S. forces at the base, operated for hours after midnight intercepting multiple drones that approached the area in waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that several drones were seen being shot down over Tel Tamr countryside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interceptions were accompanied by successive explosions and visible flashes at several sites around the perimeter of the base, as air defenses engaged incoming drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No confirmed information was available at the time of writing regarding human or material losses at the base or in its vicinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident coincided with intensive flights by U.S. warplanes over Qasrok base, the city of Hasakah, and surrounding countryside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft were observed tracking and intercepting drones, amid repeated explosions believed to be linked to aerial interception operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents in nearby areas reported hearing continuous blasts throughout the night as the engagement unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on Sunday, Syrian Deputy Defense Minister for Easter Region, Samir Oso, also known as Sipan Hamo who was an SDF commander, condemned the attack on the U.S. base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe strongly condemn the second attack targeting eastern Syria,” Oso said in a post on X. “At the beginning of this day, the U.S. Qasrok base located on our territory was attacked by four drones launched from Iraqi territory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the drones were downed without losses and held Iraq \u201cresponsible,\u201d calling on it to prevent the recurrence of attacks that threaten stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oso stressed \u201cthe importance of regional and international cooperation to ensure security and stability in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
