Opponents contend that conditions in Syria remain unsafe for return.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TPS was first granted to Syrians in 2012 following the outbreak of war and has been repeatedly extended due to ongoing violence and humanitarian concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lower U.S. courts previously blocked attempts to terminate the program, citing legal and procedural issues, including whether conditions in Syria were adequately assessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case is part of broader efforts under the administration of Donald Trump to roll back migrant protections.
