He added that the operation came following recent developments in Suwayda province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past two days, Suwayda has witnessed clashes between Syrian internal security forces and armed local groups, including members of the National Guard, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement published on the platform \u201cX\u201d, Adraee said the strikes were conducted in response to what he described as \u201cattacks against civilians from the Druze community in the Suwayda area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stated that the Israeli army \u201cwill not allow harm to come to the Druze in Syria,\u201d adding that forces \u201cwill continue to act to protect them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adraee also noted that the Israeli military is closely monitoring the situation in southern Syria and will act in accordance with directives from the political leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suwayda province, predominantly inhabited by Druze communities, has recently experienced heightened tensions amid security incidents and armed confrontations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Atoun Jan<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Israeli forces carried out airstrikes targeting military sites and infrastructure belonging to the Syrian government in southern Syria on Friday, according to an official statement.
