{"id":135729,"date":"2026-02-21T18:05:36","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T18:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=135729"},"modified":"2026-02-21T18:05:38","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T18:05:38","slug":"arab-states-condemn-us-ambassador-remarks-on-middle-east-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/135729\/","title":{"rendered":"Arab states condemn US ambassador remarks on Middle East control"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> \u2013 Palestinian, Jordanian, and Egyptian officials, along with the Arab League, condemned on Saturday remarks attributed to the United States ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, after he reportedly stated that Israel has a \u201cbiblical right\u201d to control the entire Middle East from the Nile River to the Euphrates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statements sparked widespread diplomatic criticism across the region, with several governments describing them as inconsistent with international law and established diplomatic principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the remarks \u201ccontradict religious, historical, and legal facts, in addition to conflicting with what US President Donald Trump previously announced regarding rejecting the annexation of the West Bank.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministry called on the US administration to clarify its official position concerning the ambassador\u2019s statements and urged Washington to reaffirm its commitment to international legal frameworks governing the Palestinian issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Egypt also condemned the reported comments, stating that they represent \u201ca departure from the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.\u201d The Egyptian Foreign Ministry added that the statements contradict proposals previously presented by US President Donald Trump, including a twenty-point framework related to ending the war in the Gaza Strip and discussions held during the Peace Council conference in Washington on February 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a separate response, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, denounced the remarks, saying they were \u201ccontrary to all established diplomatic norms and traditions, as well as inconsistent with logic and reason.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that such statements \u201clack any legitimate basis and risk inflaming emotions and stirring religious and national sentiments at a time when countries are meeting under the Peace Council framework to explore ways to implement a Gaza peace agreement and seize the opportunity to launch a serious political process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jordan\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates likewise issued a condemnation, rejecting the ambassador\u2019s comments and reiterating the kingdom\u2019s position supporting international law and a political resolution to regional conflicts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The remarks were made during an interview with media host Tucker Carlson, in which a biblical text was referenced describing a divine promise granting land to the descendants of the Prophet Abraham extending from the \u201cRiver of Egypt\u201d to the Euphrates River \u2014 a geographic interpretation encompassing large parts of the modern Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Atoun Jan<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Palestinian, Jordanian, and Egyptian officials, along with the Arab League, condemned on Saturday remarks attributed to the United States ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, after he reportedly stated that Israel has a \u201cbiblical right\u201d to control the entire Middle East from the Nile River to the Euphrates.
