Gen. Saad Maan, said that Iraq received 2,250 terrorists from the Syrian side, by land and air, in coordination with the Global Coalition and through significant efforts by the security forces, and they have been detained in highly secured official facilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Iraqi military official added that the government and the security forces are prepared to handle these numbers to avert danger not only from Iraq, but at the global level as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that specialized teams have launched initial investigation procedures and are classifying the detainees according to their level of threat, in addition to recording their confessions under direct judicial supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maan stressed that the established principle is to try all those involved in committing crimes against Iraqis, and affiliated with the ISIS, before the competent Iraqi courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is conducting ongoing communications with several countries regarding the remaining nationalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that the process of handing over terrorists to their countries will begin once legal requirements are completed, while security agencies continue to carry out their field and investigative duties in this file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S.-led Global Coalition, in coordination with the Iraqi government, has been working to transfer ISIS detainees from Syria to Iraq following recent military developments in northeastern Syria, which concluded with an agreement between the Syrian transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Malin Mohammed<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Iraq\u2019s Security Media Cell announced on Saturday that it has received 2,250 detainees affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) from Syria and has begun judicial classification procedures.
