{"id":135021,"date":"2026-01-25T17:19:59","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T17:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=135021"},"modified":"2026-01-25T17:20:01","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T17:20:01","slug":"un-supervised-aid-convoy-of-24-vehicles-reaches-kobani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/135021\/","title":{"rendered":"UN-supervised aid convoy of 24 vehicles reaches Kobani"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) <\/strong>\u2013 A United Nations\u2013supervised humanitarian convoy consisting of 24 vehicles arrived on Sunday in the city of Kobani, carrying fuel and emergency relief supplies to residents facing deteriorating living conditions, according to a local aid coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Mohammad Aref, coordinator of the \u201cBuhar\u201d Organization in Kobani, told North Press that the convoy included trucks operated by several participating humanitarian organizations and was facilitated under UN supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe convoy that reached Kobani today is supervised by the United Nations and consists of 24 vehicles, including vehicles belonging to other participating organizations,\u201d Aref said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kobani, located in northern Syria near the Turkish border, has experienced mounting humanitarian pressure in recent days amid restricted access routes and ongoing security tensions in surrounding areas. Local authorities affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) have coordinated with humanitarian groups to maintain essential services and organize aid distribution, while the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue to secure key supply routes and civilian infrastructure in and around the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aref said his organization was among the first to initiate the delivery effort, alongside other local groups operating inside Kobani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe convoy carried diesel fuel, food baskets, mattresses, blankets, and other emergency living and medical supplies,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the coordinator, the primary objective of the delivery is to establish a functioning humanitarian corridor to allow additional convoys to enter the city in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe aim of these supplies is to open a humanitarian passage for other convoys during the next days, through the corridor that was opened today, to meet the needs of displaced families,\u201d Aref said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He cautioned, however, that the current assistance would not be sufficient to cover all needs in the city and its surrounding countryside, where large concentrations of displaced people are sheltering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe do not expect to meet the needs of all villages in the countryside of Kobani and the city itself, as there are large ku(gatherings), but there is coordination with the administrations inside the city and with other international organizations,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Atoun Jan<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 A United Nations\u2013supervised humanitarian convoy consisting of 24 vehicles arrived on Sunday in the city of Kobani, carrying fuel and emergency relief supplies to residents facing deteriorating living conditions, according to a local aid coordinator.
