{"id":134936,"date":"2026-01-24T07:30:24","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T07:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=134936"},"modified":"2026-01-24T07:30:26","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T07:30:26","slug":"un-in-talks-with-syrian-authorities-to-deliver-aid-to-besieged-kobani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/134936\/","title":{"rendered":"UN in talks with Syrian authorities to deliver aid to besieged Kobani"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said on Friday that the United Nations is in contact with the Syrian authorities to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the city of Kobani, northern Syria, which has been under siege for more than a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at a press conference in response to a question from Rudaw Media Network\u2019s correspondent in New York, Haq said that \u201cAll roads connecting to Kobani are currently closed,\u201d noting that ongoing power, water, and internet outages have prevented residents from accessing basic services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) had informed the organization that its partners on the ground are increasingly concerned about the risk of a deteriorating humanitarian situation in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haq revealed that the UN has received reports of shortages in food and essential supplies, adding that while health centers remain operational, there is a lack of medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are engaging with the authorities.
