{"id":134345,"date":"2026-01-08T13:02:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T13:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=134345"},"modified":"2026-01-08T13:02:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T13:02:07","slug":"aanes-opens-channels-with-us-france-turkey-over-aleppo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/134345\/","title":{"rendered":"AANES opens channels with US, France, Turkey over Aleppo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) <\/strong>\u2013 Ilham Ahmed, co-chair of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria\u2019s External Relations Department, said on Thursday that there is ongoing communication with Washington, Paris, and Ankara regarding recent developments in Aleppo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She noted efforts for these states to play a mediating role between AANES and Damascus to prevent escalation. \u201cWe try to have these countries act as mediators between us and Damascus,\u201d Ahmed said in an interview with Shams TV. \u201cWe aim to use the language of reason and logic to resolve issues without escalation or committing massacres,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahmed stated that attacks on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods are not new, recalling past sieges and assaults. \u201cDuring the former regime, there were also attacks and a siege, and despite the fall of the regime, the siege and attacks on Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh continue,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said AANES remains in contact with Damascus to secure calm. \u201cWe are in communication with Damascus so there will be de-escalation without greater escalation. We support peace, dialogue, and resolving issues,\u201d Ahmed noted. Emphasizing the need to protect civilians, she urged restraint and local mechanisms to stabilize conditions in Aleppo\u2019s northern districts, where interruptions to access and services have periodically occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kurdish politician said that several factions committed massacres in Latakia and Suwayda and are now positioned near Ashrafiyeh and Sheikh Maqsoud. \u201cI do not know what the Syrian government gains by provoking such violations every time,\u201d she said. Her remarks reflect concerns that renewed pressure on these areas could disrupt community security and humanitarian access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AANES official stressed that the solution must remain \u201cSyrian-Syrian\u201d and warned that regional interventions complicate progress. \u201cWhen there is intervention from regional powers with interests in Syria, that creates an obstacle,\u201d she said, referencing Turkey\u2019s long-standing approach to the Kurdish question.
