Prior to relocating to Syria, he worked as a comedian in the United States before shifting to journalism focused on the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past decade, Abdulkarim has worked with several foreign media outlets and has maintained a strong presence among foreign Islamist audiences. According to Reuters, he became a notable voice by providing a platform for hardline views, including criticism from Islamist figures who argue that President Ahmad al-Sharaa has compromised Islamic principles since assuming office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reuters said that neither Syria\u2019s Ministry of Information nor a spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior responded to requests for comment on the arrest.
