{"id":133572,"date":"2025-12-22T07:55:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T07:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=133572"},"modified":"2025-12-22T07:55:23","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T07:55:23","slug":"kuwait-sentences-syrian-national-for-forged-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/133572\/","title":{"rendered":"Kuwait sentences Syrian national for forged citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Kuwaiti authorities announced on Sunday evening the sentencing of a Syrian national to imprisonment and a hefty fine after he was convicted of fraudulently obtaining Kuwaiti citizenship and securing employment within the Ministry of Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kuwaiti Court of Appeal sentenced the man to seven years in prison and imposed a fine of 350,000 Kuwaiti dinars (more than $1.100), equivalent to the salaries he received while working at the Ministry of Defense after acquiring citizenship through forgery, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper al-Qabas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court also ruled to exempt the defendant\u2019s brother from punishment in the same case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to al-Qabas, the case dates back to a report filed by a Syrian resident who stated that he had overheard his father, during his childhood, discussing plans to obtain Kuwaiti citizenship for his two sons in exchange for a sum of money paid to a Kuwaiti citizen. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sons were allegedly added to the citizen\u2019s family records as descendants, in violation of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Subsequent investigations and DNA testing confirmed that the individuals involved were originally Syrian nationals, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>by Abdulsalam Khoja<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Kuwaiti authorities announced on Sunday evening the sentencing of a Syrian national to imprisonment and a hefty fine after he was convicted of fraudulently obtaining Kuwaiti citizenship and securing employment within the Ministry of Defense.
