{"id":133178,"date":"2025-12-13T12:05:35","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T12:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=133178"},"modified":"2025-12-13T12:05:38","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T12:05:38","slug":"sdf-thwarts-isis-attack-kills-militant-in-deir-ez-zor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/133178\/","title":{"rendered":"SDF thwarts ISIS attack, kills militant in Deir ez-Zor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Saturday that they had thwarted an attack carried out by a cell affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, resulting in the killing of one attacker and the injury of another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the SDF said that an ISIS cell targeted one of its military vehicles in the village of Takihi in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, while the vehicle was conducting routine security duties aimed at maintaining stability in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement noted that SDF fighters successfully repelled the attack and responded to the gunmen, leading to direct clashes with the attacking group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the SDF, the clashes resulted in the death of one ISIS member and the wounding of another, while the remaining attackers managed to flee the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement added that SDF forces seized an RPG launcher with its projectile, as well as a motorcycle used by the militants during the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SDF confirmed that six ISIS militants, riding motorcycles and armed with machine guns and RPG launchers, participated in the assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the attack, SDF forces immediately launched a wide and targeted security sweep in the area in pursuit of the remaining cell members, who fled while transporting one of their wounded.
