{"id":133089,"date":"2025-12-10T18:23:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T18:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=133089"},"modified":"2025-12-10T18:23:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T18:23:09","slug":"centcom-commander-says-integrating-sdf-into-syrian-army-would-enhance-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/133089\/","title":{"rendered":"CENTCOM commander says integrating SDF into Syrian army would enhance security"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> \u2013 The commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Brad Cooper, said on Wednesday that the successful integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian army would contribute to strengthening the overall security environment in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In statements released on Wednesday, Cooper said that integrating the SDF with the Syrian government forces \u201cwould lead to a more stable environment.\u201d He emphasized that continued cooperation among local and international partners remains essential to maintaining pressure on the Islamic State (ISIS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking on counterterrorism efforts, he noted, \u201cOur advice and support to our Syrian partners have significantly weakened the capabilities of ISIS.\u201d He added that coordinated efforts across different sectors have played a critical role in reducing the group\u2019s operational presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cooper stated, \u201cWe cooperate with the Syrian government to eliminate the ISIS threat in Syria, and this will require international cooperation.\u201d His remarks come as security bodies in northeastern Syria continue joint operations aimed at preventing the resurgence of ISIS cells in remote desert regions and along major transit routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further stressed that their focus remains on continuing the fight against ISIS and expanding cooperation with the Syrian army, highlighting that the elimination of the organization \u201cwill restore stability for Syrians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SDF, operating within areas administered by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), has been a principal partner of the Global Coalition in the campaign against ISIS.
