{"id":133018,"date":"2025-12-08T17:03:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T17:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=133018"},"modified":"2025-12-08T17:03:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T17:03:19","slug":"eu-says-syrian-stability-depends-on-national-dialogue-and-transitional-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/133018\/","title":{"rendered":"EU says Syrian stability depends on national dialogue and transitional justice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI,&nbsp; Syria (North Press) <\/strong>\u2013 The European Union said on Monday that lasting peace and stability in Syria cannot be achieved without a comprehensive process of national dialogue, reconciliation and transitional justice, according to an official statement released on the first anniversary of the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad\u2019s government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its statement, the bloc expressed \u201cdeep concern over the waves of violence that have erupted across Syria since last March,\u201d noting that the country continues to face \u201cimmense challenges after years of conflict and division.\u201d The EU added that Syria also holds \u201cimmense opportunities\u201d that could guide it toward \u201ca brighter future envisioned and deserved by its people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement emphasized that any sustainable political settlement must include credible reforms and strengthened state institutions. It highlighted the need for reforms in the security sector aimed at ensuring protection for all Syrians \u201cfrom all ethnic and religious backgrounds without discrimination,\u201d and enabling citizens to be represented by authorities and included in shaping a unified, inclusive and democratic Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bloc reiterated its commitment to supporting efforts that promote national reconciliation, transitional justice and institutional reform. It also affirmed its opposition to any foreign military actions inside Syria, saying such activities undermine stability and the prospects for a peaceful transition. The statement renewed calls to respect Syria\u2019s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, urging all actors to avoid measures that violate UN Security Council Resolution 497.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following years of conflict, various regions of Syria continue to experience instability, including areas where local communities rely on security structures and administrative institutions to maintain basic services.
