{"id":132137,"date":"2025-11-15T18:30:37","date_gmt":"2025-11-15T18:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=132137"},"modified":"2025-11-15T18:30:40","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T18:30:40","slug":"asayish-begin-removing-checkpoints-in-two-aleppo-neighborhoods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/132137\/","title":{"rendered":"Asayish begin removing checkpoints in two Aleppo neighborhoods"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) <\/strong>\u2013 The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Aleppo announced on Friday that they have begun removing the barriers at the entrances of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, in a step they said aims to consolidate trust and support ongoing agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement issued by the Asayish in Aleppo, the force said the move comes within a series of measures \u201caimed at strengthening confidence and ensuring the success of the April agreement signed with the Interim Government and the two neighborhood councils.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mahmoud Ali Mardli, spokesperson for the Asayish in Aleppo, told North Press that removing the berms is part of demonstrating \u201cour goodwill and supporting efforts to implement the agreement,\u201d noting that the siege imposed on the two neighborhoods remains in place. He added that the force is committed to carrying out the agreements despite the existing restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mardli stated that \u201cthere are groups supported from outside working to obstruct these agreements and push the situation toward conflict,\u201d emphasizing that the Asayish remain committed to a political solution and see \u201cno alternative to avoiding tension in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, both home to a large Kurdish population, have faced repeated restrictions in recent years, affecting the movement of residents and the delivery of basic supplies.
