{"id":131675,"date":"2025-11-01T10:09:34","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T10:09:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=131675"},"modified":"2025-11-01T10:09:36","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T10:09:36","slug":"sdfs-abdi-hails-global-solidarity-on-kobani-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/131675\/","title":{"rendered":"SDF&#8217;s Abdi hails global solidarity on Kobani Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), marked on Saturday the World Day of Solidarity with the Resistance of Kobani by paying tribute to the sacrifices of fighters and civilians who defended the city against the Islamic State (ISIS) in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201cWe recall the immense sacrifices made by our fighters and our people in defense of their city and all of humanity,\u201d Abdi said in a post on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He highlighted the \u201cglobal solidarity and the support of the international coalition\u201d during the historic battle, describing it as a \u201csymbol of humanity\u2019s unity in the face of darkness and extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abdi added that such solidarity \u201cenabled us to break the organization [ISIS] in our city, and to move towards ending its so-called caliphate and building a better future for all Syrians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The remarks came as events were held across northeastern Syria to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Kobani resistance, widely seen as the turning point in the international campaign against ISIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The battle of Kobani (September 2014 \u2013 January 2015) was one of the most decisive confrontations against ISIS in Syria. The SDF\u2019s main component at the time, the Kurdish People\u2019s Protection Units (YPG), with crucial air support from the U.S.-led Global Coalition, succeeded in driving ISIS out of the city after months of intense fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kobani, a Kurdish city in northern Syria, became a global symbol of resistance, drawing solidarity from around the world and marking the beginning of the coordinated international effort to dismantle the ISIS caliphate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, the SDF has continued to lead counterterrorism operations in coordination with Coalition forces, while also working with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) to stabilize liberated areas and rebuild war-torn communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the post-Assad era, Kobani remains both a strategic and symbolic stronghold of the SDF, representing resilience, cooperation with global partners, and the pursuit of a pluralistic and democratic Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Jwan
