{"id":131246,"date":"2025-10-21T07:01:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T07:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=131246"},"modified":"2025-10-21T07:01:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T07:01:10","slug":"sdf-meets-government-delegation-in-syrias-tabqa-to-ease-aleppo-tensions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/131246\/","title":{"rendered":"SDF meets government delegation in Syria&#8217;s Tabqa to ease Aleppo tensions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Monday that a meeting was held with a delegation from the Syrian transitional government in the city of Tabqa, northern Syria, to discuss ways to defuse recent tensions in Kurdish-majority neighborhoods of Aleppo through peaceful means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/sdf-press.com\/en\/?p=19397\">statement<\/a> published on its official website, the SDF said that a military committee representing its forces met with a government delegation in Tabqa to address the situation in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The discussions focused on mechanisms to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safety and stability of local residents, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a gesture of goodwill, the SDF said it had released several government soldiers detained in recent weeks in different areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although they have long served as safe havens for thousands of displaced persons from Afrin Kurds and across Syria, the two Kurdish-majority neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh remain under a strict blockade imposed by the Syrian transitional government, worsening daily hardships for residents who struggle to access food, medicine, and basic necessities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Oct. 6, 2025, the two neighborhoods experienced clashes between the Kurdish Asayish forces, that control the neighborhoods, and the security forces of the transitional government after the latter closed all entrances to the neighborhoods, preventing anyone from entering or leaving. The clashes led to the injury of at least 15 people of the Kurds who suffered suffocation after government forces used tear gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In April 1, 2025, the SDF withdrew its military forces from the neighborhoods following an agreement reached between the Civil Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh and the Syrian transitional government.
