{"id":131226,"date":"2025-10-20T18:18:26","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T18:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=131226"},"modified":"2025-10-20T18:18:28","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T18:18:28","slug":"raqqa-marks-eighth-anniversary-of-liberation-with-sdf-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/131226\/","title":{"rendered":"Raqqa marks eighth anniversary of liberation with SDF parade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) <\/strong>\u2013 The Civil Administration of Raqqa organized on Monday a celebration to mark the eighth anniversary of the city\u2019s liberation from the Islamic State (ISIS), which included a military parade by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier in the day, General Mazloum Abdi, the Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, reaffirmed their commitment \u201cto fighting terrorism and strengthening security and stability for a united and safe Syria.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a post on X commemorating the anniversary, Abdi said: \u201cNine years since the liberation of Raqqa from ISIS terrorism, the epic achieved by our fighters with their sacrifices and the courage of the sons and daughters of the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SDF described the defeat of ISIS in Raqqa as \u201ca global victory against one of the most extreme forms of terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the commemoration, Mashlab Turkan, co-chair of the Raqqa Civil Council, noted that \u201ceight years after the liberation of Raqqa from the forces of darkness, the city is preparing for a political milestone through direct negotiations with the Syrian government in Damascus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that Damascus, the SDF, and the Autonomous Administration\u2019s negotiation delegation have been working intensively to implement the March 10 agreement, which includes integrating the SDF into the Syrian army, with recent meetings closely monitored under U.S. supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkan emphasized that Raqqa, which suffered over 85 percent destruction, has been rebuilt through local efforts and expertise in administration, economy, politics, and security. \u201cIt is our right to be true partners in shaping Syria\u2019s future and to participate fully in the government in Damascus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also stressed that all regions and communities in north and east Syria should have an active role in building the future of Syria, affirming that this is a right for all Syrians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Atoun Jan<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 The Civil Administration of Raqqa organized on Monday a celebration to mark the eighth anniversary of the city\u2019s liberation from the Islamic State (ISIS), which included a military parade by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
